Before & After
A collection of photos showing the results before and after a glaze firing.
Glaze is a complex mix of ceramic minerals suspended in water, and the high temperatures of the kiln cause a chemical reaction which forms the glazed surface.
It’s not as simple as mixing up a ‘paint’, glazes are often a completely different colour before firing, and even a tiny change in the recipe can result in a totally different finish or colour.
I mix all my glazes from scratch from raw materials, and develop my own by analysing and adjusting recipes.
