A showcase of my collection of work featured in my online exhibition:
'007 GOLD'
A new collection, delicately hand painted with 24ct gold lustre to reveal a secondary pattern on the dotted surfaces.
A larger collection (36!) of miniatures, large vases, mugs, my first lidded jars and a clock.
What is gold lustre?
Lustres are overglazes, meaning you apply it onto the glazed surfaces of your pots and fire them a third time.
Gold lustre is made of particles of real gold suspended in a liquid medium, usually a pine oil resin. The firing process burns off the organic binder, and what remains is a layer of real, melted gold on the surface. This is very different than gold leaf, which is applied with adhesive and isn’t fired; lustres are permanently fused onto the ceramic surface.
